Hardware and operating system
Any PC that can run Windows can run Microvet, but we recommend
the following:
Pentium III MMX, 64 MB RAM,
10 GB HDD, SVGA monitor, mouse,
1.44 MB stiffy, CD ROM,
Windows 95 or higher
Epson LX 300 dot matrix printer
Backup on stiffy, CD or zip disk
On a network with more than 2 stations, we recommend
using 128MB RAM or more on the file server.Printers
Microvet can utilise more than one printer at the same time. We use the generic text only
printer that can print to almost any dot matrix printer.
Statements
Dot matrix, Inkjet or Laser printers can be used.
Preprinted A5 continuous paper and preprinted A4 single sheets are available.
Labels
A second dot matrix printer can be used to print labels on continuous label
paper.
Documents
Documents can also print on a dot matrix printer.
High quality laser printers or deskjets can also be used.
Networking
Most veterinary practices have small networks eg 2 to 4 stations. Microvet is fully
network capable.
Most of our small networks use Windows 95/98/ME as operating system. Windows NT/2000/XP
can also be used
for bigger networks.
Each PC on the Windows network is a complete PC with Windows and Microvet locally
installed. The data is kept in a shared directory on the file server.
Database
Ordinary DBF files are used. The relational databases have a one to many relation. More
than 30 different tables are used. |
