Nickname and full name
Type
the name of the patient in the nickname field. Full names are usually used for horses with
long names. Breed
Click
on the BREED button to select the breed of the animal from a list. We
recommend that you always use this look-up facility and not just type in any breed
description. If the vet entered Siamese X and the receptionist uses
Siamese Cross, the program will interpret this as two different breeds.

Colour
Enter
the colour of the patient in this field. Do not leave this field open, as it comes in
handy if someone brings in a stray animal and you have to find the owner. The program can
search for the owner of an animal if you know the animal's name, breed, colour, sex, etc.

find the owner of a lost animal
Sex
Click
on the radio button to change the sex of the animal on the system.

Age
If you do not know the date of birth you can enter in the age and then click in the
born on field. Microvet will calculate the date of birth for you.

Message
A
message that has been entered here will appear every time you select a patient to do a
transaction. This message can be something like Allergic to penicillin. It is
important to enter only
serious allergies or conditions in the message field, as it will appear each time an item
is selected in a transaction. It may get irritating if unimportant messages have been
entered here.
Recall type
This
is an additional type of reminder, e.g. you can use this reminder to send out letters to
all cats that receive monthly program injections or to all animals that need to be spayed
within six months or to send out birthday cards to animals. Enter the type of re-call you
want to send to this animal. This is simply a code you allocate to each different type of
re-call. When you do a mail merge, the program prompts you to supply the type of re-call.
If you fill in a re-call type there, the program will scan through the patient table, and
generate re-calls for each animal with that particular type of re-call. This field can be automatically
updated when the patient comes in for a consultation.

you treat a patient for Billiary and you use a method to create the invoice, the phone
back date and message can be generated automatically.
