How to admit a patient to hospital

If you have queued the patient, do the following:

Click on SYSTEM on the main menu
Click on QUEUE-> HOSPITAL
Select the client from the queue list

If you did not queue the patient, do the following:

Click on TRANSACTION on the main menu
Click on TRANSACTION
Click on ADD HOSPITAL TRANSACTION
Select the client
Select the patient

OR Click on the icon on the toolbar
Add clinical progress to history
Clinical notes can be entered on a continual basis by using the ADD CLINICAL button while you are editing the hospital transaction. The date of the clinical record will be the date of the transaction and can be changed.

View clinical history
To view the clinical history that has been added up to date, click on the HISTORY button while you are in the hospital transaction.

There are only a few differences between a hospital transaction and an ordinary transaction:
1. The cage number and discharge check box are extra fields shown on the hospital transaction window and the patient's name, breed and the time that the patient was admitted to hospital will be added to the transaction notes.
2. Hospital transactions will not be removed from the transaction list during a month-end procedure - you will still be able to edit a hospital transaction and add lines to the transaction. Only when you discharge a patient from hospital (tick the discharge check box) will the transaction be removed during a month-end procedure.
3. All the stock and service items added to these transactions will be seen as hospital services and stock.

How to edit a hospital transaction

Click on TRANSACTIONS on the main menu
Click on TRANSACTIONS
Click on EDIT HOSPITAL TRANSACTION
Select the client
OR Click on the icon on the toolbar to edit the hospital transaction

Hospital transactions are usually edited to add line items to the transaction. A hospital transaction can also be edited to correct a mistake made in that transaction. When you add a hospital transaction, the transaction date is the computer systems date - which should be the date of that particular day. When you edit a transaction, the program will ask you if you want to change the date to the current date. Click on CANCEL if you want to keep the existing date or on OK if you want to change it to the current date. All the line items that you now add will have the new date. Remember that the line items already added will not change to the new date.

How to delete a hospital transaction

Click on TRANSACTIONS on the main menu
Click on TRANSACTIONS
Click on DELETE TRANSACTION
Select the client

Remember that only users with a level 4 access to the program will be allowed to delete records. If a person with a lower access level tries to delete a transaction, access will be denied.
