How to use the
different discount options
|
This is the
easiest method of applying discount. When busy with a transaction, apply a discount
percentage on the total of all the lines ABOVE the discount line. Click on TRANSACTIONS
on the main menu If you do not
want to give discount on all the line items, do the following:
|
Select the discount line item on
the transaction window |
The purpose of this discount option is to have
an account system where the client pays the full outstanding balance before the month-end.
This function calculates discount on the full outstanding balance,
regardless of the account age. Note: Be careful when using this function. Discount
could be given on a balance that includes stock and service items that you have already
given discount to. Discount can also be given on balances that are more than 30 days old. Click on TRANSACTIONS
on the main menu |
Month-end discount is
calculated during the month-end procedure. It prints messages on the statements to inform
clients that they qualify for a certain amount of discount if they pay their accounts in
full before the next month-end. This is a selective discount. Select
the clients that qualify for this discount system, e.g. farmers. You can apply the
discount on services, stock or both. |
Click on CLIENTS on the main
menu |
Select the services that qualify for discount, e.g. consultations, and exclude certain services like laboratory fees. Click
on TARIFFS on the main menu |
Select the stock items that qualify for discount, e.g. cattle dip, and exclude items with a low profit margin, e.g. pet food. Click
on TARIFFS on the main menu |
You can increase the discount percentage for
larger purchases according to a sliding scale. There are four discount categories that you
can set up: Click on FILE on the
main menu During the
month-end procedure Microvet will do a calculation and add up all the lines that qualify
for month-end discount. The discount category will be identified and the discount will be
calculated individually for each account. This amount will be saved in the client
information. Discount will only be calculated on items after the last month-end. The
account age must be current, e.g. if there is an outstanding balance after 30 days, no
discount will be allocated. |
Step 5: Setup your month-end
discount messages to print on statements |
For example, the outstanding
amount is R2 000-00, but only lines to the value of R1 000-00 qualify for discount. The
calculated discount is R60-00 (6% on R1 000-00). The message reads as
follows: discount is
subtracted, is R1 940-00. The remittance advice will
still state that the outstanding amount is R 2000-00. |
For example, when you add
a line to a transaction, e.g. 1 liter of Triatix, and the client is set to apply month-end
discount, and the stock item is set to apply month-end discount, the field on the line
item will be ticked to apply month-end discount. Although the tick will automatically be
placed on the line item, you can manually change it by editing the line. Select the line item on the transaction window |
