How to install Microvet on a worksation without using the installation disk

These instructions will do the following:

1.  Share the hard drive on the file server

2.  Map a network drive from the workstation to the server

3.  Copy the Mfw5 directory and vfp300.esl file from the server to the workstation

4.  Redirect the Microvet database directory

 

1. Share the hard drive on the file server

Go to the CONTROL PANEL

Double click on NETWORK

Click on FILE AND PRINT SHARING

Check both boxes

Click on IDENTIFICATION and get the computer name e.g. SERVER

Go to MY COMPUTER

Click with the right mouse button on your (C:) drive

Click on SHARING

Share as C, share type FULL

 

2.  Map a network drive from the workstation to the server

Do this on the workstation

Go to WINDOWS EXPLORER

Click on TOOLS

Click on MAP NETWORK DRIVE

Choose drive F

Type in the path   \\SERVER\C  (use the computer name and the shared name)

Check the box   reconnect at log on

 

3.  Copy the Mfw5 directory and vfp300.esl file from the server to the workstation

Do this on the workstation

Go to WINDOWS EXPLORER

Copy the MFW5 directory from your (F:) drive to the (C:) drive

Copy the VFP300.ESL from F:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM (or F:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 on Win XP/NT/2000) to C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM (or C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 on Win XP/NT/2000).

 

4.  Redirect the Microvet database directory

Open Microvet on the workstation

Log in

Click on FILE

Click on LOCAL SETUP

Change the database directory to F:\MFW5\

Close the local setup, close Microvet and start Microvet again
