How to make a backup with a CD-Writer on WinXP

1. Create a backup folder

Click on START

Click on MY COMPUTER

Double click on (C:)

Click on MAKE NEW FOLDER

Name is BACKUP and enter

 

2. Edit the Mfw5back.bat file

You are still in MY COMPUTER

Double click on MFW5

Right click on MFW5BACK.BAT

Click on EDIT

Add the following line to the bottom of the page:

            COPY MFW5BACK.ZIP \BACKUP

Click on FILE and EXIT

Click on SAVE

Exit from MY COMPUTER

Exit from Microvet on the network

 

3. Create the ZIP file

Double click on the MICROVET DATA COMPRESSION to create zip file

 

4. Copy the Zip file to a CD

Click on START

Click on MY COMPUTER

Double click on (C:)

Double click on BACKUP

Click on MFW5BACK.ZIP

Click on COPY THIS FILE

Double click on CD-WRITER (D:)

Click on MAKE NEW FOLDER

Give it a name eg ‘Monday 2004-03-15’ and enter

Click on COPY

Click on the message “You have files waiting to be written to CD” at the bottom of the screen

Click on WRITE THESE FILES TO CD

Follow the CD Writing wizard

 

To do your daily backup do only steps 3 and 4
