| How to restore a deleted patient |
When a patient is deleted, it is possible that
the related clinical history is still in the database.
This procedure will recover this data. There are two methods to restore a deleted
patient, choose one of these options: 1. Remove
the deleted flag in DBU 2. Create
a new patient with the original patient number Method 1: Remove the deleted flag in the DBU When any record is deleted in Microvet it is
flagged as DELETED but remains in the database until the database is re-indexed. If a record has been deleted but the system has
not been re-indexed, the DELETED flag can be removed and the record will be restored. If
you have re-indexed after the patient has been deleted, use the second method. 1.1 Find
a clinical record number Open Microvet Click PATIENTS Click CLINICAL RECORD Click EDIT CLINICAL RECORD Find a clinical record for the deleted patient
and get the clinical record number. 1.2 Get
the original patient number Exit from of Microvet on all the computers Make a backup Do these steps on the file server Click on START Click on PROGRAMS Click on ACCESSORIES (only for windows ME/XP/NT
and 2000) Click on MS-DOS PROMPT or COMMAND PROMT (From now on you will not be able to use your
mouse, use the Enter key and the arrows on your keyboard.) Type the following: CD\MFW5 DBU F2 DATABASE Open CLINICAL.DBF OK F5 Database Look at the CLNUM column Page down and find the clinical record number
obtained in 1.1. Get the CLDPNUM.
This is the original number of deleted patient ESC 1.3 Remove
the deleted flag At this point the DBU is still open F2 DATABASE Open DEPEND.DBF OK F5 DATABASE Look at the DPNUM column. Page down and find the number of the deleted
patient obtained in 1.2. (If the number does not exist, follow
instructions of method 2.) Put the cursor on this record. Look at the heading of the table to the left of
the record counter. It should indicate
<DELETED>. This is the delete flag. Press the delete button once. This should remove the deleted flag. ESC ESC Exit to DOS Y DEL *.IDX EXIT Start Microvet The program will automatically start to re-index A message may appear: File is not marked
with a code page Click on Windows The selection will go to Windows ANSI Click on Select Log in Method 2: Create a new patient with the original patient
number In this
procedure we will find the original patient number, add a new patient, change the patient
number to the original number and re-index. 2.1 Find
a clinical record number Do step 1.1 of method 1. 2.2 Add
a new patient Add a new patient in Microvet in the usual way. Fill in all the detail of the deleted patient. (The patient number will be a new number but we
are going to change it shortly 2.3 Get
the original patient number Do step 1.2 of method 1. 2.4 Change
the patient number You are still in DBU after step 1.2. F2 DATABASE Open DEPEND.DBF OK Page down to the bottom of the file. The last record will be the record that was added
in step 2.2. Change the DPNUM value with the number obtained
in step 1.2. ENTER ESC ESC EXIT TO DOS Y DEL *.IDX EXIT Start Microvet The program will automatically start to re-index A message may appear: File is not marked
with a code page Click on Windows The selection will go to Windows ANSI Click on Select Log in |
